- THE BRIEF -
Marriott wanted a bar that felt like Portland - not a hotel bar that happened to be in Portland. There's a difference and most people get it wrong. They needed a concept with a real identity and a f&b program that could hold its own in a city with high bar standards.
- MY ROLE -
Brought in as brand and F&B consultant through Lightning Bar Collective. Worked alongside Marriott's team and a creative studio covering naming, brand identity direction, and full food & beverage program development.
- THE EXECUTION -
Started with the name. Built the full visual identity around it - logo, brand marks, theme, and guest-facing deliverables - alongside our creative studio. Then developed the food and beverage program from scratch, designing a menu rooted in Portland's cocktail and culinary culture at the time. Opened November 2020, middle of a pandemic.
- THE RESULT -
A fully realized hotel bar concept with a distinct voice - the High Horse is still running inside the Marriott today.
